On July 27, students from eight Vietnamese teams participating in the World Invention and Creativity Olympiad 2019 in Korea has won Gold Medals. The Organizing Committee presented the Excellence Award Trophy for the team. Also, two out of eight teams were awarded the Special Award by Indonesia Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA) and Institution of Research and Development of Malang, Indonesia.
The WICO competition is annually held by Korea University of Inventions and Inventions (KUIA) and sponsored by Korean National Assembly. Contests are available for students from grades 7 to 12 around the world. At the competition, students must present their research results and answer the questions from the Jury. Research topics must be new, creative and practical.

This year's contest takes place from July 25 to 27, with 30 participating countries, including many strong teams such as the US, Japan, China and Canada. The Vietnamese delegation attending WICO 2019 consists of 26 students, divided into eight teams, from prestigious schools namely Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School; FPT High School; High School of Education Science; Giang Vo Secondary School; Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted; Le Quy Don High School, Hanoi National University of Education High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi University of Science High School for Gifted Students. The delegation was led by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Director of Research Institute of Creative Education (RICE) and Dr. Do Nhu Binh (Military Medical Academy, professional consultant of RICE).

According to Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Director of Research Institute for Creative Education (RICE), topics of eight Vietnamese teams focused on issues in the fields of biomedical, biochemical, physical and environmental., which are of high interest to the society and the scientific community. Right after the results were announced, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea congratulated and honored Vietnamese contestants to participate in the contest. Students also had a tour to visit famous places in Seoul, Korea.
